Services

As a nationally and internationally connected industry association with an extensive pool of knowledge, we can offer member companies a full package of services that makes membership particularly attractive for both multinational corporations and Swiss manufacturers and sales partners.

Needs-based information

We keep our members up-to-date with target group-relevant developments in cosmetics, chemicals, environmental law and other legal and technical areas, including commercial law, data protection legislation, Swissness legislation and VOC tax legislation.

We also inform our members about all important international legislative developments, such as the EU REACH legislation, the GHS/CLP Regulation, the EC Cosmetics Regulation and legislation in the USA and Southeast Asia.

The SKW also shares news about upcoming or existing campaigns by international partner organisations. The emphasis is on corporate responsibility, sustainability and product safety measures in collaboration with the European umbrella organisations A.I.S.E. and Cosmetics Europe.

Information for members and stakeholders

Responding to members' questions is an integral part of the Administrative Office's day-to-day work. We also receive a wide range of enquiries from consumers, the media, companies, students, authorities, NGOs and other organisations, such as:

  • Issues concerning the implementation of legal provisions and ingredients under cosmetics and chemicals law in Switzerland and the EU
  • Antitrust and data protection legislation questions
  • Help with commercial law and competition law issues
  • Advice on registration, market access and regulatory requirements nationally and internationally
  • Provision of information, primarily to educational institutions and consumer organisations who contact the SKW with queries concerning the cosmetics, detergents and cleaning products industry and its products

Information for international companies and organisations

Despite the harmonisation efforts of the authorities and the SKW, there are still some differences between Swiss legislation and that of the EU. Many international firms no longer have their own regulatory and technical offices in Switzerland.

In such scenarios, the SKW excels in supporting its members with head offices abroad, as demonstrated by the numerous enquiries received from these companies and enquiries from the European umbrella organisations (A.I.S.E. and Cosmetics Europe, the IFRA, etc.).

Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Free Sale Certificates

We issue free sale and GMP certificates for exports to our members. These are particularly important for trading with Asian and Arab countries.

The SKW is committed to clarifying the ever-changing requirements of Chinese cosmetics legislation for its members.

Support for export business

The SKW provides its 70 Swiss manufacturing companies with comprehensive technical and legal support in the area of exports. They are invited to join the "Swissness and Export" working group to gain access to the SKW's global international network.

We give them access to information about legislation, product registration, events, consultancy services and publications from the major industry associations, trade fairs and export organisations.

The SKW collaborates with its partners Switzerland Global Enterprise, SGE and Swiss Export in the export sector and represents the interests of its members at trade fairs and other export consultations.

ARGUSavenue

All SKW members have access to the ARGUSavenue media portal, allowing them to efficiently find and analyse all relevant industry topics featured in media reports in newspapers and on radio and TV. This extremely useful tool is also used for reporting to internal company departments.

The SKW also sends its members a separate weekly media review for the cosmetics sector and for the detergents and cleaning products sector.
