From vision to action: Europe's detergent and cleaning products industry sets new standards for sustainability

Sustainability and environmental protection must go beyond national borders. This is why the International Association for Soaps, Detergents and Maintenance Products (A.I.S.E.) launched the Charter for Sustainable Cleaning, supported by all national associations and manufacturers. It is a voluntary commitment based on the three pillars of sustainability.

Economic prosperity

The aim is to contribute to people's quality of life and comfort by offering competitive domestic and industrial cleaning products in a market with strict scientific and ethical guidelines. These products should not only meet human needs but also ensure economic success.

Social responsibility

A.I.S.E. is committed to society by promoting voluntary initiatives that exceed the minimum legal standards. These measures seek to maintain a high level of public health, hygiene and safety, thereby contributing to the development of a sustainable society.

Environmental protection

A.I.S.E. actively supports the industry in minimising the environmental footprint of cleaning and maintenance products by promoting sustainable manufacturing, design and consumption practices and limiting energy consumption. This includes clear and measurable actions covering the entire product life cycle and implemented voluntarily while being monitored by neutral, specialist bodies.

Basis of the initiative

A.I.S.E.'s work is founded on science-based solutions, stakeholder dialogue and transparent communication with end consumers. This is strengthened by A.I.S.E.'s broad membership base, which brings insight, influence and expertise to the industry initiative.

The SKW liaises internationally and with A.I.S.E., ensures the flow of information to its members and coordinates the efforts and implementation of this initiative's concerns in Switzerland. Several SKW working groups collaborate to continuously develop these issues and implement them within their companies.
