Markus Reinhard, General Manager GABA Schweiz
Five questions for Markus Reinhard, General Manager GABA Schweiz
What is your company proud of?
We are GABA Switzerland, "a Colgate-Palmolive Company", a caring, innovative growth company that envisions a healthier future for people and our planet. The world looks to Colgate for health and hygiene products that promote family well-being and a cleaner, greener lifestyle. We harness the power and potential of science, meaningful packaging and trusted brands to create a brighter future for people worldwide. For Colgate, our purpose and the value of our products are inextricably linked to how well we deliver on sustainability and acknowledge the enormous responsibility we bear to all the people we serve.
What have been the most significant changes in your business in recent years?
The fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry is always changing. Every day, we strive to exceed the growing expectations of consumers and shoppers. Keywords include the topic of sustainable products and the ever-increasing demands on our products' effectiveness. The pace of new regulations and legislation has increased dramatically in recent years and will continue to do so. Proactivity and good networking are essential to keep up.
Why are you an SKW member, where can the SKW help you the most and what have been your best experiences with the SKW?
We value the ongoing exchange of knowledge and experience within an environment protected by antitrust law. The pool of knowledge and expertise of the industry based in Switzerland, a non-EU member state with its own legislation, is particularly important. The SKW represents our industry's interests in politics, legislation and law enforcement through personal interaction and close collaboration with the relevant federal authorities. Participation in the drafting of legislation by the federal administration is of crucial importance, particularly in the prevention of technical trade barriers.
What opportunities and challenges do you see for your company in the near future?
We expect regulations, restrictions, and, therefore, trade barriers to continue increasing. Early detection of and appropriate response to these signs is the key to success. Continuing to provide consumers with comprehensive and transparent information about our products and their active ingredients is critical to identifying new growth opportunities.
What are your expectations and concerns for the SKW for the future?
The SKW is managed in a highly professional manner and always looks to the future with sufficient foresight. Our daily activities revolve around a close and intensive dialogue with the industry. We hope that this dedication and valuable collaboration will continue into the future.
