Christian Koch, CEO Steinfels Swiss

Five questions for Christian Koch, CEO Steinfels Swiss

01.

What is your company proud of?

Steinfels Swiss is a market leader in sustainable cosmetics, detergents and cleaning products for both home and professional use. Previously, the focus was on formulas, but it has increasingly shifted to packaging in recent years. Steinfels Swiss launched a circular project in 2023. The plastic containers from professional products will be collected and recycled, and the granulate will be processed into new detergent bottles in Switzerland, all with reduced carbon emissions.

02.

What have been the most significant changes in your business in recent years?

  • Customer needs are changing much more rapidly, leading to a much higher rate of innovation.
  • Regulatory requirements have increased massively, creating significant additional work that we are addressing with additional specialist staff.
  • The COVID pandemic and the war in Ukraine significantly weakened supply chains alongside rising prices. Day-to-day operations had to be adapted to meet these new challenges.

03.

Why are you an SKW member, where can the SKW help you the most and what have been your best experiences with the SKW?

We have been members of the SKW for many years because of its strong support for our business activities, especially in the regulatory area, to meet the new legal requirements. Members also receive excellent support with exports, critical issues such as furanocoumarins, and industry-related issues. Many thanks to the entire SKW team for their valuable support.

Since the 1990s, the Winterthur-based company Steinfels Swiss has been a pioneer in the development and manufacture of ecological cleaning products and has established itself as the most sustainable producer on the Swiss market.
04.

What opportunities and challenges do you see for your company in the near future?

Steinfels Swiss is rebuilding its manufacturing facility in Winterthur. The construction work will be completed by mid-2024. We aim to expand our strong market position in Switzerland and undertake more international business. In parallel to this growth, we need to comply with legal requirements and implement further innovative, sustainable projects. We have the ideas, and they are being implemented. We are excited about the launch.

05.

What are your expectations and concerns for the SKW for the future?

We want the SKW to continue to offer the same strong representation to the outside world as it does to the industry. In these times of rapid change, we need good support with regulatory requirements. This is what we want from the SKW.
